Wensleydale Concert Series

brochure cover prog

Our 2024 series got off to a great start on Saturday 11th May with a wonderful and moving performance by the Jervaulx Singers of Brahms's A German Requiem. Thank you to everyone who came along and for all the positive feedback afterwards. We will definitely be asking the choir to return in the future!!!

We have a short break before our next concerts in June while the Swaledale Festival gets into action. For details of other local events coming up see our Local Concerts page.

Our next concerts are:

Saturday 15th June: Yasmin Rowe and Daniel Grimwood are giving a 4 hand piano recital including the titanic work Stravinsky's Rite of Spring in Stravinsky's piano version. The ballet version caused a riot at its 1913 premiere in Paris.

Grimwood’s performances, ... are compelling, fearless and nuanced ... Indeed, so fine is the playing and imaginative the concept that I would elevate this release to instant classic status.
Gramophone review of "Henselt's Complete Études and Préambules"

A thrilling recording of Bach’s Second Partita on the Willowhayne Records label landed on my desk a few weeks back. British pianist Yasmin Rowe has a keen sense of line and voicing, particularly in the final movement Capriccio. The rest of the disc is an imaginative selection of works by Chopin, Janacek and a concert etude by the jazz-inspired Russian composer Nikolai Kapustin.

BBC Music Magazine’s - Editor’s Choice

Friday 21st June: Daniel Grimwood is staying in Wensleydale for the week and on the Friday is joined by the amazing Azerbaijani-born British violinist Nazrin Rashidova. The are performing a wonderfully varied and beautiful programme.

It's been quite a while since I last heard a young violinist with such consummate technique and unabashed bravura wedded to a great sense of style. Rashidova’s technique and musicianship are an example to nearly every violinist alive.

Can you help us?

As a registered charity we are very aware that ticket sales rarely cover the cost of artist fees, their travelling expenses, venue hire, piano tuning and printed materials. We have been relying on generous donations from a small number of individuals and smaller donations from some of our regulars to make ends meet. If you would like to help, either by making a donation (any donation, however small or large, is welcome), sponsoring a concert or in other ways please see our "Donate" page.
