Rose McLachlan, piano

Rose comes from a family of musicians and began piano lessons with her father and shortly after entered Chetham’s School of Music in 2010, initially as a chorister and then focusing on the piano with Helen Krizos.

Rose has had the opportunity to play with orchestra on several occasions, with her debut aged 13 in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival playing Beethoven’s 2nd piano concerto. She went on to perform this another 4 times with her family completing the set. I’m 2019, Rose performed Shostakovich 2nd concerto with the BBCCO conducted by Barry Wordsworth, which was broadcast twice on BBCR3. She played Chopin’s 1st concerto with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Peter Bay. This was as a result of winning the concerto competition on the PianoTexas Festival and Academy, where she was selected to be a Young Artist.

Rose went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music, graduating in 2023, and is curently studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for an Artists Masters Degree.

Notable recent perfomances are Steinway Hall Recital solo recital, Bridgewater Hall with the Hallé performing Saint-Saëns ‘Carnival of the Animals’, Harrogate Festival with violinist Esther Abrami, London Piano Festival at King’s Place solo recital, Leeds Summer Piano Festival recital and Mozart's Triple Concerto with the Manchester Camerata alongside Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Andrea Nemecz and Gábor Takács-Nagy (which was broadcast on BBCR3 and Bartòk Radio in Hungary).

Rose has also made a number of recordings, including: John McLeod ‘Five Hebridean Dances’ for Divine Art Label, Edward Gregson piano duets with Murray McLachlan for Naxos and Mozart Triple Concerto to be released on the Chandos Label.

In 2023 Rose, in collaboration with EVC Music Publications, initiated a new anthology of ‘22 Nocturnes for Chopin’ in which 22 female composers were commissioned to write pieces inspired by Chopin was released. Since the launch at Steinway Hall, it has been played over the world, with a complete performance by Rose at King’s Place as part of the London Piano Festival 2024.
