Nazrin Rashidova, solo violin recital
Saturday, 17th July 2027 19:30
St. Andrew's Church, Aysgarth
Programme: (details TBC)
The programme explores a wide selection of solo violin repertoire spanning three centuries. Revealing the remarkable tonal, dynamic, expressive and technical range of the instrument, the evening comprises works by: Bach, Locatelli, Paganini, Wieniawski, Sauret, Ysaye, Elgar, Kreisler, Vale, Bacewicz, Gashimov/Aliev, Kinsella.
Nazrin gave a truly astonishing performance for us in Wensleydale in 2024 with pianist Daniel Grimwood. Numerous audience members asked if we could have her return and so your wishes are fulfilled - this time she is flying solo!!
Praised by the American Record Guide for comprising a “consummate technique and unabashed bravura wedded to a great sense of style… an example to nearly every violinist alive” — Dr Nazrin Rashidova is recognised as a leading authority on Émile Sauret, her doctorate at the Royal Academy of Music culminating in the launch of her own edition of his monumental 24 Études Caprices (op.64 published by Edition Peters) following the release of a world premiere four-volume recording series of these works (issued by Naxos between 2017 and 2020).
The internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso made her solo début at the age of three in Baku, and was awarded a Gold Medal by the Cairo Opera House for an exceptional violin recital three years later. She established FeMusa in 2008, Britain’s first female chamber orchestra in 70 years. She has broadcast internationally, played for royalty, and also performed in the U.S.A, Japan, Europe and the Middle East. Nazrin’s discography on Naxos and FHR Records comprises works by Godowsky, Moszkowski, Sauret and has been hailed by The Strad, Ritmo, Neue Musikzeitung, Fanfare and American Record Guide magazines.
