Award-winning pianist Daniel Grimwood and internationally-renowned historical clarinetist Emily Worthington team up to bring you a taste of musical society from 19th century Bavaria, in words and music. The clarinetists Heinrich and Carl Baermann (called Bear-Father and Bear-Son by their close friend Felix Mendelssohn) were famous throughout Europe for their astounding playing and deeply felt musicality, as they mixed on equal and intimate terms with contemporaries including Weber, Meyerbeer, and Liszt. We explore the musical world of the Baermanns, in which sounds can paint pictures, music can tell stories and instruments can sing like the human voice… Come and enjoy the most charming, affecting and exhilarating music the Romantic period can offer, with a smattering of 19th-century musical gossip along the way!

Would you love to come to concerts but need help with transport or mobility issues?

We have funding from the 2020 Coop Community Fund aimed at providing transport from different parts of Wensleydale using taxis and minibuses, and if there is sufficient demand a general bus service to and from concerts. If you need help please contact us and we will see what we can do to help. If you need somebody to bring you to a concert we can help by providing a free 'carer' ticket - this is aimed at people who would not otherwise buy a ticket.  To discuss your particular needs please call Carol (07891 371280) or Liz (07484 127360).
